Let’s Learn from Ganesha !

Lord GANESHA, is the most popular god of this land, favourite one for many of us. Ganesh is also the lord of learning and wisdom, let us re-learn the wisdom our beloved lord bestow’s upon us.

Lord Ganesha is always depicted in a state of peace and harmony, bestowing his blessings on all. . He teaches us to remain ‘Calm and Peaceful’, wishing well for all.

Ganesha’s with his Big Head tells us ‘Think Big!’ No wonder, His elephant head also indicates intelligence and distinct brain power.

Ganesha’s Big Ears symbolises ‘Listen more’. Ganesha’s wide ears denote the ability to listen to people who seek his help, with listening we also gain knowledge. They signify the importance of listening in order to absorb ideas.

Ganesha’s Small Eyes inspires us to ‘Concentrate’ our mind, as only a person who has controlled his mind, can achieve any success in life.

On Ganesha’s forehead is located the Trishul (weapon of Shiva), symbolizing Time (past, present and future) and Ganesha’s mastery over it. With this he urges us to be the ‘Master of our Time’.

Ganesha’s with his Small Mouth teaches us to ‘Talk Less’, he teaches us to believe in doing instead of talking. also to value our words.

Ganesha’s Single Tusk (the other one being broken) indicates Ganesha’s ability to overcome all forms of dualism. The broken tusk teaches us to ‘Analyse’ experiences in life, to retain the good and to throw out the bad. It teaches us to ‘Introspect’ – to keep good thoughts and good habits, and to throw out evil thoughts and bad habits.

Ganesha’s belly contains infinite universes. It signifies the ability of Ganesha to swallow the sorrows of the universe and protect the world. Likewise it teaches us to ‘Accept’ all good and bad in life.

The four arms of Ganesha represent the four inner attributes of the subtle body, that is: Manas (mind), Buddhi (intellect), Ahamkara (ego) and Chitta (conditioned conscience).
– the first arm with the axe, denotes ‘Detachment’ for it helps to move ahead on the path of our goal
– the second arm with the lotus and rope denotes the goal of the highest order (lotus) and the pull required to reach it (rope), knowing the ‘Goal’ and ‘Determination’ to achieve it is equally needed
– the third hand which is blessing all who seek it, signifies that we must ‘wish everyone well’
– the fourth hand which hold the modak, symbolising the fruit of ‘Dedication’.

Let’s all imbibe these learning from the divine guru while we bid him farewell till next year.

“Ganpati Bappa Morya, pudchya varshi lovkar yaa!”
